Description

Located out of the Calgary Head Office the Advisor, Stakeholder & Community Engagement will be responsible for delivering meaningful, on-the-ground engagement across Inter Pipeline’s operating regions. Working as part of a cross-functional team that includes government relations, sustainability, and community investment, this role executes engagement plans, represents the company in local communities, and builds strong relationships with stakeholders. The Advisor plays a key role in identifying emerging issues, aligning field engagement with corporate priorities, and strengthening Inter Pipeline’s local presence through consistent, coordinated, and effective community involvement.
 
This role requires regular travel to operating regions and participation in community meetings and events, including occasional evening and weekend commitment 

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute stakeholder and community engagement activities across operating regions, including representing the company at meetings and events, managing relationships with municipal, community, and regional stakeholders, and identifying and communicating risks and opportunities
  • Manage intake, evaluation, and advancement of community investment opportunities, including developing recommendations, supporting allocation decisions, and tracking commitments to ensure alignment with business priorities
  • Translate direction into engagement plans and actions, coordinating activities across field offices and preparing briefing materials and stakeholder summaries to support internal alignment and external engagement
  • Provide support to Indigenous and government relations activities as required, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure coordinated and effective engagement across functions
  • Operate with a high degree of independence in execution, managing multiple priorities and demonstrating sound judgment in stakeholder interactions, while contributing to team effectiveness through knowledge sharing and informal guidance
  • Support consistent delivery of engagement activities and contribute to effective allocation of community investment funding, strengthening stakeholder relationships and supporting business outcomes 

Education, Skills and Experience

  • 6–10+ years of experience in stakeholder engagement, community relations, or a related field, with demonstrated ability to manage engagement activities and external relationships
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline such as political science, public policy, communications, business, or a related field
  • Experience working with municipal, community, or regional stakeholders; exposure to industrial, energy, or infrastructure environments is considered an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust with stakeholders and work effectively across teams
  • Ability to translate direction into practical action, manage multiple priorities, and exercise sound judgment in external interactions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and experience preparing briefing materials and engagement documentation

Hours

Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week 

 

This role requires regular travel to operating regions and participation in community meetings and events, including occasional evening and weekend commitment 

 

As this position is identified as safety and security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of a criminal background check assessment with satisfactory results.
