Job Description

Located out of our Calgary office, the individual will report to the Manager, Credit & Commodity Contracts and will be a contributing member of the Marketing Middle Office function. 

 

The Analyst, Commodity Contracts Management will support the daily management of Inter Pipeline’s commodity transaction confirmations and contract administration activities. 

 

This position is a great entry level opportunity for someone with a strong analytical foundation and a willingness to learn about commodity markets, contract structures, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of Inter Pipeline’s marketing activities and applicable contracts.
  • Prepare, administer, and maintain confirmations for physical Crude/NGL and financial hedging transactions for Inter Pipeline in accordance with internal Policies, Procedures and audit requirements.
  • Review externally prepared Crude, NGL and financial confirmations to ensure deal parameters and any additional information is accurately reflected.
  • Review confirmations to ensure that trade details generated by internal systems are correct prior to product delivery.
  • Coordinate with internal personnel to ensure correctness of commercial transaction data and liaise with external counterparties to achieve mutually acceptable transaction confirmation terms.
  • File contractual documentation into internal Records Management system
  • Monitor and report incidents or violations in accordance with Inter Pipeline’s Trading & Risk Management & Credit Management Polices.
  • Assist with onboarding Business Partners, conduct KYC due diligence searches of customers/vendors, and process updates to customer records including name changes, amalgamations, and restructurings.
  • Maintain process documentation for commodity contracting procedures used by the Commodity Contracts Management team.
  • Provide ad-hoc support or assistance with special projects as may be assigned by Manager, Credit & Commodity Contracts Management.

Education, Skills and Experience

  • Degree/diploma in Business Administration, Contracts Management, Finance, Risk Management or a related field.
  • Familiarity with energy industry standards and commodity markets contracting, pricing mechanisms, and trading terms is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and Power BI
  • 1-2 years of related experience
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal, customer service and communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Adaptable, innovative, self-motivated team player
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Hours

Full time, Monday- Friday
