Description
Located out of our Calgary office, the Analyst, NGL Commercial Development will directly contribute to the growth of IPL’s Facilities Infrastructure Business Unit by owning and creating economic models for growth opportunities. The work will include conducting research, interpreting data and making recommendations based on findings. The Analysts will work closely in a team alongside an Advisor and under direction and guidance of a Specialist to achieve extraordinary outcomes.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
- Model Development and Analysis: Create, modify and improve financial and economic models for the assessment of value and risk of business opportunities; understand all inputs, advise on appropriate handling of inputs and sensitivities, design cases for insight to risks and economic upside.
- Interpret Data: Using experience and technical skills, assess what findings mean for the project, the company, the proponent/customer and industry, including the determination of specific areas affected and predicting both the positive and negative results of any possible changes.
- Conduct Research: Conduct research on market insights, business opportunities, industry trends, competing organizations, customer demographics, new technologies and more. This must be done on a regular basis in order to stay caught up on recent information.
- Maintain Critical Information: Track and record metrics, data and statistics on company and sector performance, connections, industry/competitor/client health metrics and finances on a regular basis. In addition to providing detailed records for the company’s long-term use, this practice also requires ongoing improvement of existing procedures.
Education, Skills and Experience
- Completion of a university degree, preferably in Business, Economics or Engineering
- Experience in financial and economic modeling; specific experience advancing the analysis and modeling of infrastructure projects for natural gas liquids (NGL) processing or pipeline infrastructure is highly valued.
- Critical skills include a demonstrated proficiency in financial acumen, attention to detail, problem solving, multitasking, interpersonal communication and teamwork, written and oral communication.
- Superior modeling capability working with Microsoft Excel is required; proficiency with additional modeling and analytical tools including Microsoft Power BI is an asset.
- Experience in the midstream or energy industry considered an asset
Hours
Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week
As this position is identified as security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of a criminal background check assessments with satisfactory results.
