Description

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Transportation, the Director, Finance is a senior member of the Transportation Business leadership team responsible for all business unit finance activities within Canada. The Director, Finance works directly with and supports other business unit leaders with strategic financial input and insightful reporting. Specific accountabilities include financial planning, financial risk management, timely and accurate financial reporting, accounting, budgeting, forecasting and related compliance activities. 

 

Key Activities and Responsibilities 
•    Key financial advisor to Transportation Senior Management and contributor to strategic objectives
•    Oversees Transportation’s annual budgeting and 5-year business planning process
•    Liaises with Centre Function Finance Team to ensure processes align with requirements and expectations 
•    Liaises with other Business Unit Finance leads to ensure integrated results and consistency
•    Drives continuous improvement and proactively improves processes and leverages technology. 
•    Prepares and presents insightful analysis and data driven decisions
•    Develops an annual financial calendar to support financial and business reporting requirements
•    Financial lead for strategic business unit driven initiatives including due diligence, corporate development activity and indigenous partnering opportunities
•    Management & Business Reporting on a timely basis
•    Analysis to support financial insights and/or decision-making
•    Analysis to support Financial Reporting in accordance with IFRS
•    Presents monthly financial results and other ad-hoc presentations
•    Strategic Planning, Forecasting (including financial model ownership), Budgeting & Analysis 
•    Financial & Capital Accounting and Forecasting
•    Invoicing and Accounts Receivable
•    Financial compliance owner for Transportation – SOX, CER, AER, Stats Canada, Audit
•    ERP, financial data system and technology stakeholder
•    Contract interpretation and review for accounting treatment and financial modelling
•    Leads, mentors, coaches and develops highly effective and efficient teams  
•    Ensures reports have documented roles and responsibilities, annual goals and objectives
•    Defines the optimal organizational structure and required resources to meet requirements
 

Educations, Skills and Experience

•    Bachelor’s degree in business or other related field, and CPA designation
•    Minimum of 15 years’ experience including 5+ years in a senior leadership role
•    Demonstrated ability to develop and execute financial and operational strategies for organizations on a growth trajectory
•    Previous M&A transaction experience, experience working with private equity, Investment Banking, Corporate Strategy and Planning experience is deemed an asset
•    Strong working knowledge of IFRS, and financial and operational reporting and analyses
•    Proven ability to interpret financial information and provide sound strategic advice 
•    Strong commercial acumen related to pipeline infrastructure projects
•    Proven ability to lead, challenge and motivate high-performing teams 
•    Robust skill set and experience with financial modelling in Excel, developing PowerPoint presentations, and presenting financial data to executive audiences
