Description
Located out of our Calgary office, the individual in the Director, Information Technology position will report to the Chief Financial Officer.
The Director provides strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of IT. This role is responsible for advancing the company’s digital capabilities, enhancing cybersecurity, overseeing enterprise architecture, and ensuring technology alignment with evolving business strategies and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) commitments.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
• Define the mission and vision of the IT department to foster a business-oriented culture and mindset.
• Drive the development and implementation of enterprise technology standards, governance processes, and performance metrics to ensure IT delivers value to the organization.
• Lead the creation of the IT strategy and roadmap, ensuring integration with enterprise strategic planning and business objectives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with executives, business unit leaders, and external partners to align technology initiatives with business needs.
• Use influencing and negotiation skills to create synergies across the enterprise for cost-effective and innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with the IT Leadership Team to govern and prioritize IT strategy and major investments.
• Develop and manage annual operating and capital expenditure budgets for IT in alignment with strategic objectives.
• Direct IT sourcing strategy and oversee strategic vendor and partner relationships.
• Develop and maintain an IT workforce with the right mix of business knowledge, technical skills, and agility to achieve digital objectives.
• Lead the establishment and execution of a digital workplace strategy to ensure employees have the tools to be productive and effective.
Education, Skills and Experience
• University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of progressive leadership in IT and/or information management functions.
• Deep knowledge of technology concepts, solutions, trends, and markets, including cloud architecture, cybersecurity standards, AI governance, digital risk management, and data ethics.
• Broad experience with enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, cloud platforms), integration tools, and modern IT infrastructure.
• Experience managing or supporting operational technology (OT) systems
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical ideas for non-technical audiences.
• Proven experience leading and developing high-performance, cross-functional teams.
• Strong leadership and change management skills.
• Ability to collaborate across departments, align stakeholders, and support effective technology use for operational needs.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, resolve conflict, and drive consensus among diverse stakeholders.
Hours
Full Time, Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day
As this position is identified as security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of a criminal background check assessment with satisfactory results.
