Description
Located out of our Calgary office, the Pipeline Hydraulic Engineer will report to the Supervisor, Pipeline Hydraulics. As part of a growing Pipeline Engineering team this important role will provide fluid hydraulics expertise in the areas of design, construction, and operation of pipelines and pump stations.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
•Develop and maintain comprehensive hydraulic models of all pipeline systems.
•Conduct and/or review steady-state and transient hydraulic analyses for both pipeline and terminals, incremental volume analysis and other special studies as needed.
•Own the hydraulic study and transient analysis program and database.
•Provide technical support to the Commercial, Project Development and Operations groups.
•Liaise with support systems personnel involved with day-to-day system operations and maintenance; verify input data pertaining to physical configuration, operations, and control systems.
•Provide support to the Corporate Emergency Management and Crisis Management Teams.
•Respond to field, management and technical requests as required.
•Provide insight on pipeline hydraulic and mechanical design related matters to Project Development initiatives to ensure consistency with existing Inter Pipeline practices.
•Review work completed by other engineers in the Pipeline Hydraulics group.
•Coordinate, review and implement Management of Change (MOC) initiatives.
•Provide design information and technical support to external consultants and review the results and final reports.
•Provide occasional weekend engineering support for pipeline operations as part of Pipeline Engineering on-call rotation.
Education, Skills and Experience
•8+ years of experience in the pipeline industry, with at least 5 years specifically focused on hydraulic modeling.
•Professional Engineer registered with APEGA.
•Engineering degree, preferably in chemical or mechanical.
•Proficiency in Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS) is mandatory, experience with other hydraulic software such as AFT fathom would be beneficial.
•Proven senior-level technical expertise in hydraulic design and engineering within the oil & gas industry.
•Strong working knowledge of applicable engineering principles, regulations, and industry standards.
•Knowledgeable in current operating standards, codes, rules, and regulations that relate to pipeline operations.
•Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Schedule
Full time Monday-Friday
As this position is identified as security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of education verification and criminal background check assessments with satisfactory results
