Description

Ready to kick-start your engineering career? Inter Pipeline is hiring Engineering Interns to join our Transportation Projects team in downtown Calgary. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience with a world-scale energy infrastructure company. You'll have the unique opportunity to work on diverse projects and develop practical engineering skills. Interns will support Project Engineers and Managers in executing a wide range of initiatives that drive operational excellence. 

Key Activities and Responsibilities

•    Supporting data gathering and analysis for internal stakeholders (Commercial, Operations Management, Project Development, Execution).
•    Assisting Project Engineers throughout the full lifecycle of Operations Projects.
•    Collaborating with Senior Project Controls Advisors to monitor and manage project expenditures.
•    Contributing to the development and scoping of sustaining and expense projects.
•    Maintaining and updating project schedules and documentation.
•    Supporting IPL’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives.
•    Executing ad hoc tasks and projects under the supervision of licensed engineers.
•    Reviewing third-party documents and coordinating Management of Change (MOC) processes.
•    Participating in engineering meetings and providing cost estimating support.
•    Liaising with system operations and maintenance personnel.
•    Assisting in contract development and evaluation for construction and consulting services.
•    Ensuring all engineering work is reviewed and approved by a licensed Professional Engineer in accordance with APEGA guidelines.

•    Demonstrate superior performance in Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) and compliance.
•    Ensure all work aligns with IPL’s Core Values and EH&S Policy.
•    Maintain compliance with applicable regulations and IPL standards.
•    Contribute to a learning-focused environment that values safety and continuous improvement.

Education, Skills and Experience

•    Enrolled in 3rd year of a Bachelor’s degree at an accredited Canadian University.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication.
•    Highly organized with attention to detail.
•    Collaborative team player with a positive attitude.
•    Adaptable and open to change.
•    Solid understanding of engineering and business fundamentals.

Hours

Location: Downtown Calgary  
Term: 16-month internship
Positions Available: 2

Full-time, Monday to Friday
Internship begins May 2026 and runs for 16 months

 

As this position is identified as security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of pre-employment criminal record check and education verification with satisfactory results.
