Description


Located out of our Calgary office, the Interim Consolidation Accountant is a member of the Financial Reporting team, and will be responsible for the preparation of Inter Pipeline’s consolidated financial results and key internal management reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and enjoy working as part of a team to solve complex problems.

 

This is a 15-month fixed term position from November 2024 – February 2026. 
 

Key Activities and Responsibilities

 

  • Perform the monthly consolidation of Inter Pipeline and its subsidiaries
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly internal reports for management
  • Assist with the preparation of Inter Pipeline’s quarterly and annual submissions to Brookfield (parent company)
  • Assist with the preparation of Inter Pipeline’s quarterly and annual external financial statements and notes to the financial statements
  • Ad-hoc internal reporting (management reports, queries, etc.) for management throughout the organization.
  • Assist with administration and maintenance of the OneStream consolidation system, including testing and implementing changes to system reports, troubleshooting, and management of metadata
  • Support OneStream changes that arise from the implementation of new accounting standards, acquisitions & divestitures, restructurings, and other business changes 
  • Liaise with the Accounting groups in Canada and Europe, as well as other areas of the business, to assist with queries, problem solving, training, and technical support related to OneStream and consolidations
  • Prepare the annual budget consolidation and reconciliation
  • Identify and execute efficiencies, automations, and other improvements within the consolidation process
  • Assist with special projects as required (e.g. implementation of financial systems, process improvement efficiencies, tax planning structures, project financing, acquisition due diligence, purchase price accounting, set-up of new transactions, other)
     

Education, Skills and Experience

 

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • 3+ years of applicable industry or public practice experience in a consolidation, financial reporting, or auditing role
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to solve complex problems, taking initiative to identify root causes and work with various stakeholders to resolve consolidation and reporting issues
  • Experience with consolidation systems considered an asset
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills 
  • Ability to manage internal and external relationships
  • Well developed interpersonal, team, customer service and communication skills 
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines and work independently 
  • Mindset for continual learning, growth, and development
     

Hours

Full Time, Monday – Friday 

 

15-month fixed term position from November 2024 – February 2026

As this position is identified as security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of employment verification and criminal background check assessments with satisfactory results.
