Description

Based in our Calgary office, the Pipeline Scheduler reports to the Supervisor, Pipeline Scheduling. This key position is part of the Inter Pipeline (IPL) Oil Movements Team within the Transportation Business Unit and is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient movement of petroleum products through IPL’s pipeline systems. The Scheduler delivers premium customer service to producers, shippers, truckers, and connecting pipelines to ensure effective and timely logistics coordination.

Key Activities and Responsibilites

•    Act as the first point of contact for producers, shippers, and receipt or delivery facilities; ensure all required documentation is received and stakeholders are informed.
•    Work closely with the Control Centre, Field Operations (pipelines), Maintenance Scheduling, Integrity, Operations Engineering, and Pipeline Commercial groups.
•    Collaborate with the Oil Movements Analyst to facilitate the setup of new batteries, and to coordinate on weekly and monthly volume movements.
•    Build and manage ratable monthly pipeline schedules based on nominations, considering upstream, midstream, and downstream constraints such as outages, turnarounds, and tankage limitations.
•    Monitor and manage tank inventories; revise schedules as needed and communicate changes to relevant stakeholders.
•    Coordinate and implement receipt restrictions, trade or delivery cuts, and other requests with supervisor approval.
•    Complete weekly split processes in accordance with industry timelines to minimize imbalances or positional discrepancies.
•    Review and input Notices of Shipment and Form A forecasts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with COLC timelines and industry best practices.
•    Attend and contribute to weekly maintenance meetings; communicate maintenance plans to internal and external stakeholders.
•    Compile and analyze estimated and actual throughput data.
•    Monitor crude qualities and ensure compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and customer contracts.
•    Provide exceptional customer service and build strong relationships with internal teams, shippers, producers, and pipeline partners to support system optimization and business growth.
•    Represent IPL professionally in industry networking opportunities to enhance visibility and foster new business relationships.
•    Provide after-hours and weekend support as required, including monitoring communications and responding to urgent issues.
•    Support cross-training initiatives and provide vacation or absence coverage as needed.
•    Complete various ah-hoc tasks and assignments.

Education, Skills & Experience

•    High School Diploma required, post-secondary education in a related field preferred.
•    Minimum 3 years of experience in scheduling or a related logistics/operations role.
•    Strong understanding of crude pipeline logistics and industry practices.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
•    Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
•    Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, with proven ability to negotiate, resolve conflicts, and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
•    Proactive, detail-oriented, and entrepreneurial mindset.

 

Hours: 
•    Full time, Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week. 
•    On‐call after hours and weekend assistance to internal stakeholders and external customers. 
•    This position is a 6-month interim position located in Calgary, Alberta.

 

As this position is identified as security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of pre-employment criminal background check assessments with satisfactory results.
