Description

Located out of our Calgary office, the Manager will report to the Vice President, Operations. The Manager, Regulatory, Land & Environment manages a team of professional regulatory, land and environment experts that ensure existing assets, new projects, and ongoing operations and maintenance activities are compliant and support operational goals. The role is also responsible for ensuring all environmental incidents are managed and addressed in compliance with applicable laws. 

 

This role is responsible for the Transportation Business Unit’s (TBU) commitment to engage and consult with Indigenous Communities, Landowners, Occupants, Regulators and all external stakeholders to support regulatory compliance while fostering positive long-term relationships throughout the life cycle of our assets.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

•    Establish regulatory, land, environment, Indigenous and stakeholder relations strategy, priorities and budgets and allocate resources and workloads accordingly.  
•    Develop, implement and maintain documentation to support the Transportation Operating Managment System (TOMS) Environment and Regulatory Program and Stakeholder Enabling Process as well as all associated documentation.  
•    Provide leadership, mentorship and guidance to all team members in regulatory, environment, land, Indigenous and Stakeholder relations policies, procedures and applicable practices.  
•    Create and implement an effective employee development plan including annual goals and objectives, roles and responsibilities, training and career development plans and annual performance and compensation reviews as per organizational requirements.
•    Manage responses to regulatory agencies regarding operations or issues to ensure they meet all applicable legal requirements, Inter Pipeline’s TBU operational excellence standard and TOMS. 
•    Manage the direction of the preparation and submission of regulatory agency applications, reports, or correspondence. 
•    Identify, assess and implement risk mitigation strategies as outlined by the environment and regulatory TOMS program. 
•    Establish, Maintain and Management of Programs:  
    •    Regulatory Program: Compliance (RMOC), TDG, Air  
    •    Environment Program: Liability Sites, Right-of-Way Management, Waste  
    •    Land Program: Annual rentals/payments, Land Management, and Conflict Resolution
    •    Indigenous Program: Relationship and Project Agreements, Business Opportunities, Compliance and Engagement Activities 

Education, Skills and Experience

•    10 years or more of industry experience with a proven track record for successfully leading teams along with a solid understanding of regulatory and government agencies, municipalities and industry groups
•    Post secondary education (University or College) in a related field, regulatory, land or environment
•    Expert at providing regulatory, land, environment, Indigenous & Stakeholder relations guidance to departments and project development teams from design to commissioning and operational activities.

Monday- Friday full time
