Description

The Scheduler, Crude Marketing is a full‑time role based in the Calgary office, reporting to the Director, Crude Marketing. The position resides within the Marketing business unit and supports the oil trading team by ensuring timely pipeline nominations and the accurate fulfillment of all IPCMLP physical delivery contracts.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

•    Take the lead for all scheduling activities across the pipelines in which we operate including submitting Notice of Shipments, apportionment notices, and interacting with third party scheduling teams
•    Communicate with other pipe schedulers, including providing volume and price confirmations with all counterparties we do business with
•    Initiate, develop, and maintain strong relationships across the industry including upstream, midstream, and downstream parties
•    Takes the lead in conducting fundamental analysis relating to pipeline flows and identifying material shifts in the market that may impact our activities and communicate these developments to stakeholders
•    Ensure trade capture systems and databases properly reflect anticipated inventories and communicate to traders what the positions are and when there are changes
•    Forecast inventory for hedging activities and communicate with internal stakeholders
•    Acts as the point of contact for inquiries from back office support regarding inventory or other activities across our business
•    Ensure accurate volume accruals so that we are capturing risk and credit exposures properly while also reporting accurate financial results
•    Support settlement through accruals, actuals, and forecasts as needed
•    Support ad hoc activities such as student training/coordination, analysis for new initiatives, and slide deck development
•    Represent crude marketing interests in industry working groups or any scheduling related issues 

Education, Skills and Experience

•    3-5 years of experience in the crude oil industry, with a preference for experience in Marketing or logistics
•    Bachelor’s degree or higher, with preference for Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related field 
•    Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, as well as Power BI
•    Strong analytical capabilities and working with large datasets
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills
•    Knowledgeable about the crude oil logistical networks in North America, with a strong understanding of the W. Canada markets
•    Working knowledge on how crude oil is priced, including differentials and equalization techniques
•    Works well in a team oriented culture and in a fast paced environment with an ability to prioritize

Hours

Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week 

 

As this position is identified as security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of a criminal background check assessment with satisfactory results.
