Description

 

The Sr. Advisor, PP Demand Planning is responsible for the production planning and forecasting of the Polypropylene Production Unit.  The individual would coordinate between the Operations Team, Transportation Team, and the Sales Team to develop a Monthly Operation Plan (MOP) that would be used to drive the monthly P&L projections, as well as, the yearly and 5-year P&L forecasts.  In managing the product, the individual will assist the Sales & Marketing Director refine the production wheel, manage inventory levels and customer mix to enhance the overall profitability of the business. The Sr. Advisor, PP Demand Planning will report to the Director, Polypropylene Sales & Marketing. 

Key Activities and Responsibilities

 

  • Collect the monthly forecasts from the individual salespeople and compile a rolling three-month sales plan used to drive the production schedule 
  • Work with Heartland Finance Team to submit the yearly sales plan which is used to compile the division’s financial outlook for the year. Each month this will be revised to account for any changes.
  • Work closely with the Operations Production Planner to develop the MOP based on sales projections and production estimates  
  • Work with the Heartland Logistics Team to keep the railcar count at the various Storage-In-Transit (SIT) at the appropriately levels 
  • Review orders daily to ensure customers are within their targeted levels 
  • Represent the Heartland Commercial Team in various meetings such as the daily Shipment Planning & Scheduling Meeting, Comms-Ops Daily Alignment Meeting 
  • Hosting a weekly meeting with the sales team to review any issues and any challenges to meet orders 
  • Responsible for providing the projected monthly accruals to the Heartland Accounting Team based on sales projections for the month and based on what is expected to deliver in the month.   All is used to project the monthly closing P&L.  
  • Monitor and analyze the various scorecard metrics to ensure we are working toward achieving the metrics 
  • Help develop the next generation of systems that will allow for better planning and forecasting 
     

Education, Skills and Experience

 

  • This individual must have at minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial activities, preferably in the sales area    
  • Experience creating and developing commercial strategies in sales and marketing to drive value creation and deliver strong commercial results
  • A creative person that can coordinate many projects and tasks amongst a wide array of internal and external people 
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to interact with all levels and functions within Inter Pipeline’s business and our customers businesses  
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with various internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong customer orientation and outstanding customer service skills 
  • Highly effective organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and act as a team player
  • Able to travel a minimum of 5 - 10% travel to various industry events and customer visits  
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and preferably PowerBi as well  
  • A university degree in a related field such as business, marketing, or engineering is required for this role.
