Description
Located out of our Calgary office, the individual in the Senior Analyst, Corporate Development role will report to the VP, Corporate Development and Strategy. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting IPL’s corporate development activities. The Senior Analyst will assist in evaluating strategic opportunities, conducting market and financial analyses, and supporting the execution of key projects that align with IPL’s growth strategy.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
• Develop financial models and valuation analysis using sound valuation principles, accurately capturing a wide array of assumptions across operations, financing, accounting, tax considerations, etc.
• Prepare presentations, business cases, customer proposals, and financial analysis to inform strategic decisions.
• Support the identification, evaluation, and development of strategic growth opportunities within IPL’s existing operations and future development opportunities.
• Support the development of metrics and reporting frameworks to monitor the performance and impact of initiatives.
• Build and maintain relationships with business unit leaders and stakeholders, ensuring alignment of objectives, fostering collaboration.
• Stay informed on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact IPL’s corporate development activities.
Education, Skills and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or Engineering
• 2-5 years of experience in a quantitative-focused role, such as corporate development, investment banking, private equity, transaction advisory, engineering, or financial analysis.
• Professional designation or progress towards a professional designation (CFA, CPA, CBV, P.Eng.).
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, particularly in financial and business modeling.
• Experience with industry and market research, financial modeling, and valuation techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and effectively communicate financial and business information effectively.
• Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multi-functional teams.
• A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous learning.
Hours
Full Time, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
As this position is identified as security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of a criminal background check assessment with satisfactory results.
