Description
Located out of our Calgary office, the individual in the Senior Analyst, Special Projects role will report to the Senior Specialist within the Marketing business unit. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting IPL Marketing’s business development and special projects activities by conducting research, performing financial analysis, evaluating market fundamentals, and preparing presentation materials for projects related to crude oil, natural gas, NGL and other products (i.e. Alky, PGP). The Senior Analyst will work closely with other members of the Marketing business unit team and members of IPL’s asset business units and contribute to the evaluation and execution of key projects that align with IPL’s growth strategy.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
• Develop financial models and valuation analysis using sound valuation principles, accurately capturing a wide array of assumptions across operations, financing, accounting, tax considerations, etc. under the guidance of senior team members.
• Support the preparation of presentations, business cases, customer proposals, and financial analysis to inform strategic decisions.
• Conduct market, industry, and company research to support opportunity assessments.
• Participate in the assessment and tracking of strategic initiatives, assisting in performance measurement and reporting.
• Build and maintain relationships with business unit leaders and stakeholders, ensuring alignment of objectives, fostering collaboration.
• Work with other analysts and commodity Traders to compile Market fundamentals to support projects.
• Stay informed on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact IPL’s business development activities.
Education, Skills and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or Engineering
• 1-5 years of experience in a quantitative-focused role, such as business development, commodity marketing, investment banking, private equity, , engineering, or financial analysis.
• Experience in Oil & Gas specifically related to commodity marketing, midstream, or refining is an asset
• Professional designation or progress towards a professional designation (CFA, CPA, CBV, P.Eng.).
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power Point, particularly in financial and business modeling.
• Experience with industry and market research, financial modeling, and valuation techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and effectively communicate financial and business information effectively.
• Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multi-functional teams.
• A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous learning.
Hours
Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
