Job Description

Located out of our Calgary office, the individual in the Specialist, Commercial Development role will report to the General Manager, NGL Commercial in the Facilities Infrastructure Business Unit. The successful candidate will be part of a team of experienced professionals focused on IPLs dynamic Offgas and Cochrane assets. This role is focused on evaluating and progressing a number of exciting growth projects, and sustainability opportunities for IPL’s Facilities Infrastructure business unit, through the identification, valuation, and risk management of said opportunities from inception through to contract execution and eventual commissioning.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Manage new projects and initiatives from inception to execution including framing up the opportunity, strategy recommendations, economic analysis, customer interaction, contract negotiations and working collaboratively with internal stakeholders.
  • Lead origination efforts through identifying and providing insightful analysis on potential commercial growth opportunities including asset optimization, new projects, new service offerings, new commercial frameworks and margin-based opportunities.
  • Maintain strong relationships within the NGL and midstream infrastructure industry and leverage off those to continually monitor market changes and peer/competitor activities and identify opportunities related to IPLs NGL business
  • Build, maintain, understand and update economic inputs as they apply to various projects, communicate financial metrics to senior leadership and interpret how changes will impact project value drivers and risks
  • Provide peer mentorship to junior team members and analysts especially in the area of financial modelling

Education, Skills and Experience

  • University Degree in Business or Economics
  • 10+ years of oil and gas industry experience in the Commercial Development / Business Development field, NGL experience is favourable
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities and execute to deliver results
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate financial and business analysis
  • Experience negotiating and managing commercial and operating agreements
  • Financial Modelling experience considered an asset
  • Well-developed presentation, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills are also required
  • Strong partnership relationship management skills
  • Motivated individual able to work independently and as a team player
  • Highly effective organization skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively interact with various internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills

Hours

Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day, in- office
