Description

We are looking for a highly motivated student to join our Crude Trading team. This position offers exposure to both physical and financial commodity trading and is designed as a stepping stone toward an entry level role on a trading desk. The role applies advanced knowledge typically obtained through formal education and involves analyzing moderately complex issues and adapting practices within the business unit under limited supervision.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

•    Entering and maintaining contracts in trading systems with accuracy and compliance
•    Maintain and improve pricing databases with associated analysis to support and develop trade opportunities
•    Assist with the invoicing process to ensure contracts get settled accurately and on time
•    Providing operational support for physical commodity transactions and resolving routine issues
•    Collaborating with traders and marketers to ensure day-to-day objectives are met
•    Identifying opportunities to improve processes and recommending adjustments where appropriate
•    Participating in learning opportunities to build knowledge of commodity markets and trading strategies

Education, Skills and Experience

•    3rd or 4th year student in a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering or related field
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to learn trading systems quickly
•    Skill in Excel macros and coding is beneficial
•    Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
•    Must be able to work well in a fast-paced, growth environment
•    Interest in commodity markets
•    Some knowledge of oil and gas is an asset

Hours

•    Monday-Friday, Full Time, 40 hours per week
•    Start date: July 2nd, 2026   
•    6 month term

 

As this position is identified security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of pre-employment criminal background check assessment with satisfactory results.
