Description

 

Located out of our Calgary Office, the Student, Financial Reporting is a member of our Financial Reporting team and will contribute to the preparation of Inter Pipeline’s financial statements, MD&A, internal management reporting, and special projects. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a desire to learn about accounting and financial reporting within an established organization.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

 

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial submissions to Inter Pipeline’s parent entity and Inter Pipeline’s externally released financial statements and MD&A
  • Contribute to the monthly consolidation of Inter Pipeline and its subsidiaries
  • Prepare financial analysis and internal reporting for management throughout the organization
  • Collaborate in the research and documentation of the appropriate accounting treatment for new transactions, situations or agreements that may result in unique or complex accounting treatment
  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards including changes to financial statements, system changes and training of staff
  • Collaborate with the Business Unit accounting groups and other areas of the business
  • Liaise with external auditors and Inter Pipeline’s internal SOX team
  • Assist with other ad-hoc internal reporting and special projects, as required

Education, Skills and Experience

 

  • Enrolled in, or a recent graduate from, a post-secondary institution with a focus in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • Second or third-year student preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team in a fast-paced, growth environment
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage and progress multiple deliverables
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform critical self-review
  • Well-developed communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Mindset for continual learning, growth, and development
     

Hours

 

Full Time, Monday - Friday

12-month Student position from May 2025 – April 2026 

 

As this position is identified as security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of criminal background check assessments with satisfactory results.
