Description
The HR Summer Student will provide support to the HR Operations, HR Systems, and HR Business Partner teams through a wide range of administrative, data quality, and process support activities. This role is ideal for a student currently pursuing post secondary education in human resources or a related field who enjoys detail-oriented work, working with systems, and contributing to process improvement across the HR function.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
HR Systems & Data Support
• Manage the general inbox for the HR Systems team, responding to basic inquiries and routing more complex questions to the appropriate team member.
• Review HR transaction workflow requests to ensure completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness; follow up with HRBPs and functional HR teams for required clarification or information.
• Assist with coordination and execution of ongoing HR data audits in collaboration with the HRSA team, HRBPs, and other HR groups.
• Support secondary testing for HR system enhancements, configuration updates, and reporting changes.
• Review and update HR systems and program Quick Reference Guides (QRGs) to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with current processes.
File and Records Management
• Assist with file management activities including digitizing employee files, cleaning up records, and archiving documents that meet retention requirements.
• Review and organize HR policy and program documentation, ensuring alignment with Records Management Guidelines and proper storage in the Enterprise Content Management system.
Project & Administrative Support
• Support Total Rewards, HR Systems, and HR Business Partner teams with various tasks and initiatives.
Education, Skills and Experience
• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Previous experience working in an administrative or coordination-focused role is an asset.
• Comfortable working with HR systems and handling sensitive data; familiarity with SuccessFactors is considered an asset.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, with strong skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• High attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and a willingness to learn.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team environment.
Hours
Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day
May - August 2026, 4 month term
As this position is identified as security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of a criminal background check assessments with satisfactory results.
