Description
Located out of our Pioneer 1 facility, the individual in the Student, Maintenance role will report to the Supervisor, Maintenance.
Pioneer 1 is located 27 km north of Fort McMurray - this Offgas Liquid Extraction facility accepts feed from the Suncor (DTH) Offgas stream – our process removes propane, propylene, ethane, ethylene and other C2+ components. Refined fuels are transported south through the Boreal Pipeline.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
Vegetation and general groundskeeping maintenance which could include:
o Mowing grass, trimming shrubs / bushes, picking weeds
o Picking garbage
o Painting
Any other work associated with general appearance and upkeep of the ‘non-process area’ of the Pioneer 1 facility which could include:
o Storage yard clean up
o Chemical inventory
Various administrative tasks which could include:
o Asset Management Data Entry (data entry using excel spreadsheets)
o Assisting Maintenance and Operations personnel to edit check sheets and procedures
o General filing
Various other opportunities may arise to assist and be mentored by other personnel on site to gain exposure and experience with various site functions including:
o Millwright Technician
o Electrical & Instrumentation Technician
o Safety Advisor
o Planner / Scheduler
o Warehouse Technician
o Operations Technician
o Engineering
o Administration
Training, courses, modules will be provided and assigned as required for site access and dependant on assigned responsibilities including but not limited to:
o H2S Alive
o Standard First Aid
o WHMIS
Education, Skills and Experience
• Currently enrolled in a post secondary education program and has, as a minimum, completed the first year of the program
• Physically fit and able to perform manual labor
• Self motivated with a strong work ethic
• Pleasant personality and positive outlook
• Dependable and punctual
• Mechanically inclined and willing to learn new skills
• A commitment to learning, safety consciousness and compliance with plant procedures is essential
Hours
Full time temporary anticipated to start early May 2026 until late August 2026. 4x10hr working week, Mon-Thu.
As this position is identified as safety and security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of pre-employment medical, drug/alcohol, employment verification and criminal background check assessments with satisfactory results.
